FAQ

About MainStreetPage, why I built it, and how it works.

Lauren Mathews

Hi, I’m Lauren.

I live in Ballston Spa, New York, and I’ve been building websites and software for over 20 years.

I’m a software engineer and a local business owner of Mom & Pop’s Cafe.

MainStreetPage is my way of bringing that same technical experience to local businesses that need something simple, dependable, and affordable.

Why did you start MainStreetPage?

I started MainStreetPage after buying Mom & Pop’s Cafe and seeing firsthand how awkward the website market can be for small businesses.

A lot of business owners get pushed toward large website platforms with monthly costs that do not really match what they need.

For many small businesses, a website should be simple: hours, contact information, photos, a few pages, and something that works well on phones.

I built MainStreetPage to fill that gap with something straightforward, affordable, and honest.

Why did you build this for Mom & Pop’s Cafe?

Because I needed it myself first.

When we bought the cafe, I wanted a website that loaded quickly, looked good on phones, was easy to update, and did not come with a lot of extra features we were never going to use.

Mom & Pop’s Cafe became the real-world starting point for MainStreetPage.

If it works well for a real local business that I personally care about, then I feel good offering it to other local businesses too.

Why local businesses?

Because local businesses matter, and a lot of them are paying for tools that are more expensive and more complicated than they need to be.

I wanted to create something that gives small businesses a better option: not overpriced, not bloated, and not confusing.

I’m trying to build something fair that genuinely helps people.

What is MainStreetPage?

MainStreetPage is a simple website platform for local businesses.

It is built for businesses that want a clean, mobile-friendly website without paying for a giant site builder or a fully custom agency project.

Who is it for?

It is a good fit for cafes, restaurants, salons, spas, contractors, retail shops, and other local businesses that want a straightforward website.

If you mainly need business information, hours, photos, a few pages, and a way for customers to contact you, this is probably the kind of website I built it for.

Who is it not for?

It is not built for online stores, large blogs, complex web applications, or anything that needs a large custom system behind it.

I would rather be clear about that up front than sell someone the wrong thing.

Why is it only $9/month?

Because simple websites do not cost a fortune.

MainStreetPage is focused on doing a smaller number of things well instead of trying to be everything for everyone.

The sites are lightweight, the hosting costs are low, and I am intentionally keeping the product simple.

Why should I trust you with my website?

I have been building websites and software for a long time, and I care a lot about making things stable, clear, and useful.

I am also local, and I understand what it feels like to run a small business and watch every expense.

My goal here is not to lock people into something confusing. It is to offer a better fit for businesses that need something simple and dependable.

Can I edit the site myself?

Yes.

The whole point is that you should be able to update your business information without needing a developer every time.

Does MainStreetPage update my Google or Yelp listings for me?

No.

MainStreetPage checks for mismatches, but it does not push changes directly to Google or Yelp.

That means you still control those listings yourself, while MainStreetPage helps you notice when your hours or information do not match.

Can you move my current website over?

Yes, for simple websites.

There is a one-time migration option for moving an existing simple site into MainStreetPage without redesigning it.

Can you help with my domain name?

Yes.

If you want, I can help set up and manage your custom website address, and I can also set up email forwarding if I am managing the domain for you.

What happens if I cancel?

You can leave anytime.

Monthly plans are prorated with a $1 minimum. Yearly plans are not prorated, but there is no long-term contract trapping you.

If I manage your domain, there is no extra fee to move it somewhere else. We would just coordinate the transfer offline.

What does your past website experience have to do with this?

I have spent years building and maintaining large websites and online communities.

That experience taught me how to build websites that are dependable, fast, easy to maintain, and affordable to run.

MainStreetPage is much simpler than those larger projects, but it benefits from the same experience behind it.

How do I get in touch?

If you are a local business and you think this might be a good fit, I would genuinely love to hear from you.
